IN-HOUSE APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

We have our new own in-house apprenticeship training department, where carefully selected young and eager "Carpenters in the making" are placed with experienced and qualified mentors and are monitored on site and guided through every stage to reach the NVQ apprentice qualification required.

Because of compliant risk assessments we can only take apprentices from the age of 17 years of age.

All trades must carry a CSCS card for access to all sites this can be obtained by completing a H&S and environmental test at www.cscs.uk.com/applying-for-cards/health-and-safety-test

Along with our chosen assessors (Assessment & Training Company)

Our teams of professionals have expertise in worked based assessment, allowing participants to be assessed with minimal disruption to their working day. This allows nationally recognised qualifications to be achieved, without the need for evening or college classes.

APPRENTICE JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Apprentice Carpenter/Joiner
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Accountable to: Construction Director
Job Purpose: To learn and acquire the skills necessary to become a competent Carpenter/Joiner. To obtain all round knowledge of the construction processes leading to the finished product.
Scope:
Site based: Practical skills/use of tools/health and safety/joisting and roofing/1st fix/2nd fix and finals. Develop personal (people)
Skills: Work towards the relevant National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1. To work and perform in a safe and conscientious manner
  • 2. Keep accurate training records/weekly site measure sheets
  • 3. Be punctual and keep employer informed of potential absences
  • 4. Adhere within the terms of the Construction Apprentice Scheme

Working Relationships: Effective working relationships are an essential part of daily working life.
The focus in this role is:
Internal: Colleagues within England Carpentry mainly Site based appointed supervisor.
External: Sub contract company to which you are affiliated and their employees. Other sub-contractors and site based staff/ NHBC / Building Control Officers / Health and Safety Executive.

These are illustrative duties and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the department to respond effectively to the requirements of the Company.
